Trends come and go but if done right, a trend isn’t for just for that moment in time, but more of a statement of elegance and class captured from a unique period. There are several new trends on the horizon and if you thought we were still in the days of monograms and polka dots, read on.
The newest colors for brides-to-be follow the rules of old and vintage fashion. Pale blue mixed with candy apple red is the latest of the chic and unique! Put your bridesmaids in pale blue tea length dresses matched up with red bouquets with a wildflower approach as though picked straight out of a garden in the south! For centerpieces, stick with crisp white linens, an array of blues and white for floral and try to incorporate fruits such as strawberries and miniature red apples. To stay true to a vintage approach, opt for letterpress menus and place cards at your reception and consider welcoming guests with a true classic like mojitos or mint lemonade!
Parasols are also making it huge in the wedding scene. Bridesmaids will find them fun and playful and they also serve as a great way to stay cool and keep that makeup neat and matte in the sunny Arizona weather. A bride may have her bridesmaids use parasols in lieu of bouquets when walking down the aisle, or just have them on hand for cute photo opps!
Feasting tables make us all feel like family! If you want to create a cozy and intimate feeling, opt for long rectangular tables that seat anywhere from 20 to 40 on each side! Some sites may require a little strategy with making this work, but the warm feeling it creates as well as the opportunity for fun and unique variations of centerpieces down the table make it a happy and rewarding challenge.
The last but very important trend that should become more consistent with weddings is specialty lighting. Although this may not make a huge difference in an outdoor reception space, it can turn a simple and beige ballroom into the wedding reception of your dreams. Amazing lighting with soft hues splashed up on walls can create the illusion of sky-high ceilings and open air. Dramatic lighting with a light and water based fog provided by your DJ or band can add that extra drama to your first dance and keep guests focused for the dance’s entirety. For the most dramatic effect possible, consider lighting from underneath your guest dining tables to give them the feeling of floating on top of the ballroom’s floor. And for the departure of guests, consider handing out small flashlights, luminary lined sidewalks or “tree lights” in the parking lot to get them to their vehicle safely.
